UMUAHIA, Abia State – The Management of Enugu Bus Terminal has paid an unscheduled working visit to the *Nnenna Oti Bus Terminal, Umuahia, commending the Abia State Government for what it described as a remarkable transport revolution.
The Enugu delegation, led by the Managing Director, Mr. John Eboh, included Chief Orjiogbo C. and Legal Consultant, Barr. Akwaugo U., among others. They were received by the Abia State Commissioner for Transport, Dr. Chimezie Isaac Ukaegbu, and the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Transport, Dr. Obioma Nwaogbe.
The visiting team was conducted on a tour of the ultra-modern terminal commissioned on May 27, 2026.
Dr. Ukaegbu explained that the facility and its operations align with Governor Alex Otti’s vision for a restructured and sustainable transportation system in Abia State.
The delegation was also introduced to the Abia Green Shuttle, the state’s electric bus fleet, which the Commissioner described as a masterpiece in the administration’s drive toward clean and affordable mass transit.
Speaking after the tour, Mr. Eboh expressed admiration for Abia’s environmentally sustainable system. He specifically cited the solar-powered grid, the Abia Bus Network, the terminal’s digital safety log system, and the introduction of electric buses.
“I am very impressed by the environmentally sustainable system here. This is a gold standard and Enugu will seek to replicate it,” he said.
Mr. Eboh noted that while Enugu has opted for CNG buses, Abia’s model with electric vehicles and integrated infrastructure offers valuable lessons.
He added that adopting elements of Abia’s operational framework would help address some of the challenges currently faced at the Enugu terminal.
He also praised the professionalism of the Abia team on ground and promised to maintain close contact with the Abia transport authorities.
“It will definitely improve transport operations in both states,” he said.
Dr. Ukaegbu and Dr. Nwaogbe said the Otti administration remains open to collaboration with other South-East states to build an integrated and efficient transport system that supports trade and economic growth.
The visit underscores growing inter-state cooperation in the region as governments seek to modernize public transportation and improve commuter experience.
