UMUAHIA, Abia State – The Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, candidate for Ikwuano State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Dr. Kalu Chukwuemeka Israel, has expressed gratitude to God and the people of Ikwuano following his confirmation on the INEC portal as the party’s flag bearer for the 2027 general election.
Dr. Kalu stated this in a message on Wednesday, a day after the Abia State chapter of NDC unveiled all its candidates in Umuahia and presented party flags to them.
The candidate thanked the people of Ikwuano for turning out in large numbers during the unveiling in solidarity with him.
“To the glory of Almighty God, my name has been uploaded in the INEC portal as the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for Abia State House of Assembly, Ikwuano State Constituency,” he said.
“I want to use this medium to thank great people of Ikwuano for trooping out en mass in solidarity with me yesterday during the unveiling process. Out of joy, they turned the programme to a very huge carnival. I am highly elated and very grateful.”
Dr. Kalu commended other aspirants who contested the NDC primary with him for their courage and sportsmanship, saying their participation strengthened the party.
He assured that his victory was not a “zero sum game,” and called on all party members to work together.
“My victory is for the greater good of the entire Ikwuano LGA. It is the victory of the people of good conscience and lovers of justice, fairness and equity. I urge them to join hands with me in building a formidable NDC in Ikwuano LGA,” he said.
He also appreciated NDC members, supporters at home and in diaspora for their prayers, advice and commitment during the primary process.
Citing the principle of rotation, Dr. Kalu said it is the turn of Ibere clan to produce the next member for Ikwuano State Constituency.
“There is an old adage that says ‘Dimkpa anaghi ano na ulo ewu amuo na obu’. The good people of Ikwuano are aware that it is the turn of Ibere clan to produce the next member of Abia State House of Assembly, Ikwuano State Constituency,” he stated.
“Ibere clan has able bodied cerebral youths that are robustly and eminently qualified to deliver premium representation that is truly and visibly people centric. I urge our people to support Ibere clan in this trajectory for the sake of equity and justice, for the sake of communal peace and harmony and in the spirit of ‘Onye ahala nwanne ya’.”
He urged all NDC members to align with the party’s policies, principles and ideology aimed at strengthening internal democracy, instilling discipline and ensuring total victory in the 2027 general election.
