NDC Unveils Candidates for 2027 Elections in Abia, Parades Emeka Israel Ex-senator, Others

_Party chairman charges members to “collect their money and vote right”_

UMUAHIA, Abia State – The Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, in Abia State on Wednesday unveiled all its candidates for the 2027 general elections at an event held at the Britack Event Centre, Umuahia.

The State Party Chairman, Chief Ako Atulomah, announced candidates for the House of Assembly, House of Representatives and Senate positions.

Chief Atulomah announced former Senator Nkechi Nwogu as the Senatorial candidate for Abia Central, while Hon. Uko Nkole emerged as the Senatorial candidate for Abia North.

For the House of Representatives, former Super Eagles midfielder, Karibe Ojigwe, was unveiled as the candidate for Bende Federal Constituency.

For Abia State House of Assembly, Dr. Kalu Chukwuemeka Israel was unveiled as the candidate for Ikwuano State Constituency, among others.

The chairman said the NDC is a fast-growing party in Nigeria and “has come to stay in Abia,” adding that God would use the party to liberate the state.

He charged members to protect their votes and resist moneybags in the election.

“Collect their money and vote for the right candidates,” he said.

Speaking after his unveiling, the Governorship Candidate of the NDC in Abia, Chief Etugo Ndubuisi Ogah, expressed optimism that the party would clinch victory in 2027.

He stated that as the governorship candidate, together with other candidates, they would commence reconciliatory visits to aspirants who did not emerge, to ensure the party remains united.

Addressing newsmen, Senatorial candidate for Abia Central, Senator Nkechi Nwogu, said as an experienced lawmaker she is well aware of what the district is lacking.

She promised that if elected, she would ensure that the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, MOUAU, is converted to a conventional university where students can study Law, Medicine and other courses without going to other universities to pay huge sums for admission.

Speaking also,, Hon. Uko Nkole, the senatorial candidate for Abia North, expressed optimism that victory at the polls in 2027 is possible, saying NDC is ready to clinch available seats.

Also speaking, the candidate for Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency, Stanley Uche, said he would bring the experience garnered in public service to bear, stressing that under him, Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency would flourish more than its current status.

On his part, the candidate for Ikwuano State Constituency, Kalu Chukwuemeka Israel said his victory is for the greater good of the entire Ikwuano LGA.

He urged all to join hands with him in building a formidable NDC in Ikwuano LGA.

The unveiling sets the stage for NDC’s campaign activities ahead of the 2027 general elections in Abia State.
