Abia PCRC Pledges Support for CP Afolabi, Reaffirms Commitment to Community Policing

UMUAHIA, Abia State – Delegates of the Police Community Relations Committee, PCRC, Abia State Command, on Monday, August 18, 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police, CP Wilfred Olutokunbo Afolabi, at the Command Headquarters in Umuahia.

The delegation was led by the PCRC State Chairman, Chief Iheanyi Igboanulam.

Speaking during the visit, Chief Igboanulam said the purpose was to formally welcome the CP to Abia State and strengthen the existing partnership between the Command and the PCRC.

He reaffirmed the Committee’s commitment to serving as a vital bridge between the Police and members of the public, and expressed the PCRC’s readiness to support initiatives aimed at enhancing the safety and security of lives and property across the state.

Welcoming the delegation, CP Afolabi assured them of the Command’s commitment to maintaining robust partnership and continuous engagement with members of the public.

He briefed the PCRC on operational strategies being implemented in line with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police.

These include efforts to address communication gaps in key areas such as Aba, as well as the continuous training and retraining of officers to enhance professionalism, efficiency and effective service delivery.

The CP also highlighted ongoing efforts to strengthen the Cybercrime Department to effectively respond to cyber-related crimes in the state.

The Commissioner urged the delegation to remain committed to its responsibility of service to the nation.

He assured them of the Command’s readiness to work closely with the Committee and other stakeholders towards creating a safer and more secure environment for the people of Abia State.
