Why the creatives are supporting Tinubu – Rollas

ABA — The Convener, Concerned Creative Artists and Entertainers Initiative, Emeka Rollas, says the creative industry opted to support President Bola Tinubu due to his favourable creative industry policies.

Rollas said this in Aba on Thursday during a Nationwide Sensitisation Programme of Stakeholders in the Creative Sector of the nation’s economy.

“Our meeting today is peculiar because this nationwide sensitization programme is beginning in Abia.

“I am only a messenger in the creative sector, the campaigns have begun but we are not campaigning but talking to ourselves, the creatives.

“Our industry is getting better today and that is why we are standing by the person who is changing our industry because he deserves to be appreciated.” he said.

Rollas said that in 2023, Tinubu told him he would create a ministry of creative economy when he becomes the president and would make the National Theatre a World Class Theatre.

He said that Tinubu fulfilled those promises on assumption of office, created the ministry and made members of the creative sector managers of agencies under the ministry.

Rollas said that persons present would be given empowerment but added that the empowerment to be given to members of  the creative community was not money from politics but from the creative sector.

He urged Nigerians in the creative sector not to look at what candidates would give them during campaigns but to ask what such candidates would do to improve the sector which feeds them and their families.

Earlier, the National Secretary of the organization, Dayo Onibiyo, who also represented its Board of Trustees (BOT) Chairman, Remi Oshodi, said they were in Abia to have conversations with creatives on issues concerning their sector.

Oshodi urged creatives to get ready their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) for voting adding that they must support All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates in Abia if they were supporting Tinubu.

The Ngwa Ukwu Prime Minister, and head of all Prime Ministers in Ngwa Land, Nze Jonathan Nwogu, thanked the creatives for bringing Abia people the opportunity to make a decision.

Nwogu said that Tinubu had done many things in Abia which the state government was not reporting.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that participants observed a minute silence to honour late Nollywood Icon, Olu Jacobs, and prayed for the repose of his soul.
