2027: Obingwa, Aba North Traditional Rulers Adopt OTTI As Sole Governorship Candidate 

Traditional stakeholders in Obingwa and Aba North Local Government Areas have overwhelmingly endorsed Governor Alex Otti for a second term, adopting him as their sole candidate for Governorship election in 2027 election.

They made this known when the leadership of Abia State Council of Traditional Rulers with the Chairmen of traditional rulers in the 17 LGAs, led by Eze Linus Nto Mbah visited the council headquarters in continuation to the statewide sensitisation tour on Wednesday.

The visit was to encourage massive participation of grassrooters in Abia State in the ongoing continuous voters registration by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Speaking at Mgboko in Obingwa and Eziama in Aba North LGAs, the Chairman of the State Council of Traditional Rulers, Eze Linus Nto Mbah, reiterated the need for every eligible citizen resident in Abia to register and obtain their permanent voters card to enable them participate in the electoral process.

Eze Mbah pointed out that the traditional rulers embarked on the tour to spread the good news of Governor Alex Otti’s exceptional performance since he assumed office as the Abia State Governor.

The monarch maintained that the Governor’s achievements in three years in office have dwarfed those before him, noting that Otti could only be compared to the late Dr Sam Mbakwe of the old Imo State, who is being remembered today for his intentional leadership style.

He noted that if those who served before Governor Otti did eight years with relatively low performance, how much more Otti whose record of achievements is reverberating in Abia State, Nigeria and abroad.

Eze Mbah further urged them to register for their voters card and insisted that their endorsement would amount to nothing without the PVC which he said would enable them to vote for Governor Alex Otti whom they have adopted.

In their separate remarks, the Mayor of Obingwa, Hon. Maxwell Nwadike and that of Aba North, Hon. Timothy Iheke, thanked the traditional institution for their continuous commitment towards peace, unity, and grassroots development in Abia State.

The Mayors lauded Governor Alex Otti’s administration for what they described as restoring confidence in governance through transparency, accountability, competence, and purposeful leadership.

They further urged the traditional rulers, village heads, and other community leaders to remain steadfast in supporting the Governor and promised to work for the Governor’s reelection, while also encouraging active participation of their people in the electoral process.

Responding on behalf of Obingwa traditional rulers, Eze Nwabiaraije Eneogwe and Eze Love Nwogu of Aba North said the Governor’s footprint is visible on every facet of the Abia economy, noting that the Obingwa traditional rulers have adopted him for a second term.

They however maintained that endorsing the Governor was only the beginning as they would take the message to their subjects on the need to support and vote for Dr Alex Otti in the next general election.

Others who spoke including Chief Samuel Chukwuemka Ekpo, for the village heads, Mrs Ijeoma Omenazu for the women among others, said they would return to their people with the message from the traditional rulers with a view to encouraging them to obtain their PVCs.

They appreciated the visit adding that they would embark on operation show your PVC as a criteria for attending meetings.
