Misconduct: Abia CP Disbands Quick Intervention Unit, Establishes Strike Force

Abia State Police Commissioner of Police, CP Danladi Isa has ordered the disbandment of the Quick Intervention Unit (QIU) citing unprofessionalism and misconduct.

The CP has announced the establishment of a new tactical unit code-named Strike Force, an intervention team Commanded by DSP Eze Augustine Eke, to further strengthen the operational efficiency.

A statement by DSP Maureen Chinaka, the Public Relations Officer of the Command, said the new team
comprises of well-trained, disciplined, and combat ready officers strategically deployed as an additional tactical team to combat crime in the State.

It disclosed that CP’s action was in its continuous fight against unprofessional conduct by officers and in line with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) to build a professionally competent, service driven, rule of law compliant and people -friendly Police Force.

The statement said the Commissioner of Police has charged the newly inaugurated team to uphold professionalism, remain disciplined, and ensure strict compliance with the rule of law in the discharge of their duties.

CP Danladi Isa also called on Abia people to promptly report any form of misconduct by police officers to the Command’s Complaints Response Unit (CRU).
