Abia Workers Celebrate Receiving Outstanding Leave Allowance, Thanks Otti

Civil servants in Government House Umuahia have expressed gratitude to Abia Governor, Alex Otti for fulfilling his promise to pay their outstanding Annual Leave Allowance.

The Chairman, Staff Welfare Association of Government House Umuahia, Comrade Oluchi Ubani led others to the office of the Chief of staff to the governor, Pastor Caleb Ajagba.

In her speech, Ubani said the staff are full of joy and gratitude for receiving their Annual Leave Allowance, which had not been paid for many years.

She thanked the Governor, the Chief of Staff and government appointees for the gesture and appealed to the Governor to direct the implementation of workers’ promotion.

Also speaking,the Director-in-Charge, Government House, Umuahia, Mrs Onyedikachi Ogwo appreciated other welfare packages and approvals the staff received to make their works easier and assured of the commitment of the staff in the discharge of their duties.

Receiving the jubilant workers, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Pastor Caleb Ajagba thanked them for the show of gratitude, noting that such an attitude would spur the Governor to do more for them.

“I want to let you know that what you have done today by showing this level of gratitude without anybody telling you is going to make His Excellency to think of doing more for you,” Pastor Ajagba stated.

Pastor Ajagba while assuring that Governor Otti has come to restore the dignity of the Abia workforce, urged the workers to reciprocate the gesture by being dedicated and more productive in the discharge of their duties.

He said that the developmental projects Abians see across the state today were promised during the electioneering campaign of Dr Alex Otti.

Contributing, the Commissioner for Labour and Productivity, Mr Kingsley Nwokocha, assured the workers that many more welfare needs are currently being addressed by the Governor, whom he described as workers’ friendly.

The short ceremony, which featured songs in praise of the Governor attracted the presence of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Mr Ferdinand Ekeoma, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Investment, Promotion, and PPP, High Chief Green-Amakwe, the Director-General, Strategic Communications Bureau, Onyebuchi Ememanka, among others.
