We Are Fully With Otti, Ukwa La Ngwa Appointees Declare, Warn Against Divisive Narratives
Say govt well-represented by sons, daughters, reaffirm support for re-election
UMUAHIA — Eighty-five political appointees of Ukwa La Ngwa extraction serving under Governor Alex Otti administration have declared unalloyed support for the Governor and disowned narratives portraying Ukwa La Ngwa people as being against the government.
The appointees stated this at a press conference in Umuahia on Thursday, addressed on behalf of the group by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, and the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Prince Uzor Nwachukwu.
Ajagba said meeting was convened to address negative narratives observed in the state and to nip them in the bud, noting that all present had collectively assented to the resolutions to be read.

He said before advent of Otti administration, situation of Abia was well known, but Governor has demystified governance through transparency, accountability and visionary leadership.
“The only crime he has committed is because he has vowed that resources accrued to Abia State must be used for development of Abia State. People who are incensed and angry today are those who turned our patrimony into private inheritance,” Ajagba said.
He said Ukwa La Ngwa nation is disciplined and focused and will not support anyone from any section of the state creating division between Ukwa La Ngwa people and the government.

Reading the eight-point resolution, Nwachukwu said 85 appointees, excluding nine mayors from the zone who also signed in solidarity, noted with concern disjointed and politically motivated narratives on the social media creating wrong impression that Ukwa La Ngwa are against the administration.
He said the group unequivocally stated that they wholeheartedly identify with the visions and policies of Governor Otti and acknowledge his developmental interventions across the state, especially in Ukwa La Ngwa areas.
“We shall stoutly resist within the limits of legitimate democratic engagement any attempt by any politician or group to denigrate our people and present in negative light our beautiful relationship with our son, the Governor and his administration,” the resolution stated.

On narratives questioning whether Governor Otti is Onye Ngwa, appointees said it is unfortunate and shows lack of knowledge, adding that not even the Governor can reverse the facts of his land of birth after three generations.
“No one decides such human fate for themselves, only God. We will not descend to level of responding to such retarded arguments,” they said, noting that article by Barrister Ememanka had already addressed matter.
They affirmed that sons and daughters of Ukwa La Ngwa are well represented in Otti’s administration, from Chief of Staff to commissioners, advisers and other aides, making meaningful contributions.
They advised Ukwa La Ngwa sons and daughters seeking to embarrass their collective sensibilities by giving sub-ethnic slant to campaigns against government to retrace their steps.
They said they respect free expression and right to dissent but take exception to the use of Ukwa La Ngwa political platform to pursue aspirations of failed politicians, especially by those not indigenes of area.
They urged the people to remain calm and allow the administration ‘which has demonstrated desire to rebuild broken walls of development to continue,’ and reaffirmed continued and determined support for Governor Otti’s re-election.
“By God, he is already re-elected,” the resolution added.
The resolution was dated October 8, 2026 and signed by the 85 appointees and nine mayors from the Ukwa La Ngwa extraction.
