Cityboy Movement Inaugurates Abia Executive, Targets 10m Youth Votes for Tinubu in 2027

UMUAHIA, Abia State – The Cityboy Movement has inaugurated its Abia State Executive and Women Wing, with a pledge to build a formidable grassroots structure to deliver 10 million youth votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027 and to secure the political future of Nigerian youth.
The inauguration took place on Tuesday, August 25, 2026 in Umuahia, and was led by the State Director, Mayor Lucky Igbokwe.
Addressing the members in Umuahia, the Director-General of the Cityboy Movement, Hon. Francis Shoga said the movement is not just about the President but about building a political structure that will outlive the current administration.
The DG disclosed that the movement is working to deliver 10 million youth votes for President Tinubu in 2027, stressing that such a voting bloc would determine Nigeria’s political future.
“We are planning to give President Bola Tinubu 10 million votes. 10 million young Nigerian votes. And let me tell you a secret. If the young Nigerians can produce 10 million votes, that means we can decide who is going to be the president after Bola Tinubu,” he said.
He urged members to go back to every local government area to increase membership, saying a formidable structure is the only way to produce a governor, minister, and even president from the state.
“The only way your children can become Governor of this state is to have a formidable structure. Forget that you are in an opposition state. If you work very hard, you can take charge of the state. You can produce a governor. You can produce a minister,” Shoga stated.
Shoga criticised past governments for failed promises and said President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda represents a “new Nigeria.”
He called for unity and hard work, warning against sitting on the sideline. “Let us get involved. Let us multiply the number. The only reason why the wall of Jericho fell was because there was a formidable force. We are going to fall the wall of Jericho. The wall of poverty will fall. Our children will become great. Only if we do the hard work, and the hard work is now.”
In his remarks earlier, the State Director, Mayor Lucky Igbokwe, said the movement is dedicated to ensuring the re-election of President Bola Tinubu, through constructive engagement and public enlightenment on government policies.
Mayor Igbokwe noted that citizens have a responsibility to understand policies shaping the economy, particularly the removal of petrol subsidy and reforms in the foreign exchange regime introduced by the Tinubu administration.
“These reforms have undoubtedly created significant short-term pressures for households and businesses. At the same time, these reforms have substantially increased revenues available to the Federal, State and Local Governments through FAAC allocations,” he said.
He cited reports showing that allocations to states rose from about N2.8 trillion in 2022 to approximately N7.3 trillion in 2025.
The Cityboy State Director highlighted key federal interventions in the South-East, saying the Federal Government has identified Aba in Abia State as a strategic hub for its industrial-development agenda.
He also noted investments in road and bridge infrastructure, the establishment of the Renewed Hope Infrastructure Development Fund, the South-East Development Commission, and the South-East Investment Company as frameworks to accelerate regional growth.
“For Abia, the continuing reconstruction and development of major transport corridors, particularly around Aba, has considerable potential to improve movement of goods, reduce logistical costs and strengthen the state’s enormous manufacturing and commercial base,” Igbokwe stated.
Outlining the mission of the movement, he said: “Here at Cityboy Movement our mission is simple: To Inform, Engage and Empower our people. Let us build a generation of informed young Nigerians who understand their rights and responsibilities, participate meaningfully in national development.”
He added that the Abia chapter will embark on a voter education drive to inform, educate and mobilise people in support of the President’s re-election bid.
“We are of the opinion and conviction that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has done well in his first four years in office by laying a solid foundation for economic recovery and growth of our dear country and therefore deserves a second term in office,” he said.
Mayor Igbokwe urged members to work together for “a more prosperous, peaceful and inclusive Nigeria.”
In a goodwill message, APC Deputy Governorship Candidate for Abia State, Dr. Godswill Aguegbe, described Tinubu’s leadership as “inseparable from the progress and stability of Nigeria” and urged members to “preach the gospel of Renewed Hope” in every community.
Also, National Coordinator, Abayomi, warned against division within the state chapter and reaffirmed Mayor Igbokwe as the authentic State Director approved by the national board.
He expressed confidence that Igbokwe would “deliver Abia for President Bola Tinubu, come 2027.
