Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has inaugurated chairmen and members of various boards and agencies, tasking them on promoting accountability, institutional efficiency, and effective service delivery.

Inaugurating the boards on Thursday at the Michael Okpara Auditorium, Umuahia, Otti said the inauguration would strengthen institutional leadership and enhance the implementation of government policies and programmes.

“Beyond this ceremony, this is an important government function aimed at building accountability and improving efficiency across critical institutions,” the Governor stated.

He noted that the appointees were selected based on merit, competence, and track records in their respective professions, urging them to provide strategic direction and uphold transparency in the discharge of their duties.

The Governor further assured them of the administration’s support in ensuring effective performance and delivery on the state’s development objectives.

Responding on behalf of the newly inaugurated appointees, Chairman of the Abia State University Teaching Hospital Management Board, Dr Ezinne Benjamin-Kalu expressed appreciation to the state government for the confidence reposed in them.

She assured the administration of the boards’ commitment to supporting the government’s vision for development, particularly in healthcare, education, and investment promotion.

“We do not take this responsibility for granted. We are committed to contributing meaningfully to the growth and transformation of the state,” she said.

Dr. Kalu also emphasized the need for institutions, especially in the healthcare sector, to align with modern standards in service delivery, medical training, and research.

“We understand the expectations of the people and the importance of delivering results that will positively impact lives across the state,” she concluded.
