Ex-Deputy Governors Forum Celebrates National Chairman Akomas At 66

ABUJA — The Forum of Former Deputy Governors of Nigeria, FFDGN, has felicitated its National Chairman, Dr. Chris Akomas, on his 66th birthday.

In a birthday message in Abuja, Director-General of the forum, Dr. Kenneth Ibe-Kalu, described Akomas as a committed public servant whose experience has strengthened leadership of the forum.

Ibe-Kalu said Akomas has used his experience in public administration to promote discussions on governance and national development.

According to him, the forum’s national conferences under Akomas’ leadership have provided platforms for former deputy governors and other stakeholders to exchange ideas on issues affecting the country.

He said Akomas has also continued to advocate policies aimed at improving welfare of Nigerians and addressing basic needs.

Ibe-Kalu described Akomas as a bold and courageous leader who pursued issues he believed in with dedication and concern for humanity.

He called on Nigerians at home and abroad to join forum in celebrating former Abia deputy governor.

Akomas served as Deputy Governor of Abia State and later represented the state as Federal Commissioner on Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission, RMAFC, where he chaired Indices and Disbursement Committee. He also served as Abia Commissioner for Lands and Survey.

He also held administrative positions at International Institute of Tropical Agriculture, IITA, Ibadan, and International Livestock Research Institute, ILRI.

Akomas holds a PhD in Applied Psychology from Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, and a master’s degree in Personnel Psychology from University of Ibadan.

He is currently National Chairman of FFDGN and National Secretary of South-East Stakeholders Forum.

The FFDGN is a non-partisan body comprising former deputy governors from 36 states, providing platform for members to share governance experiences, promote national development and offer policy recommendations on democratic governance and socio-economic development.
