Abia BIR Chair Prof Ogbonna, Buries Elder Brother Amidst Glowing Tributes
The remains of late Chief Simeon Alozie Ogbonna has been laid to rest at his Umulum Etitilabu, Isiama Afaraukwu Ibeku country home in Umuahia North LGA, amidst glowing tributes from well-meaning Nigerians.
Chief Simeon Alozie Ogbonna was the elder brother of the Chairman, Abia State Board of Internal Revenue, Prof. Udochkwu Ogbonna.
Speaking during a funeral service conducted by the St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, Isiama Afara Ibeku, Governor Alex Otti described the deceased as a dedicated Christian, respected elder statesman, a beacon of wisdom and visionary leadership in his community and beyond.

The Governor represented by the Acting Secretary to the State Government, Dr Emmanuel Meribole, noted the inevitability of death to all mortals, describing Chief Ogbonna’s death as a big loss to his family, the church and the people of Isiama, Afaraukwu Ibeku.
Otti enjoined the bereaved family especially the Chairman, State Board of Internal Revenue, Prof. Udochkwu Ogbonna to find solace in the fact that the deceased lived a life of contribution and honour, remained a symbol of justice and uprightness in his community.

In a homily titled, “The Hope of Eternal Life,” Venerable Sam Onuoha, reminded all that they are pilgrims on earth, hence the need for all to live righteously in order to gain eternal life.
In his tribute, the younger brother of the deceased and Chairman, State Board of Internal Revenue, Prof. Udochkwu Ogbonna, described his late elder brother as an easy going gentleman, an accomplished entrepreneur, God fearing and a community leader whose demise has created a big vacuum in the family.
Prof. Ogbonna thanked Governor Otti, government officials, friends, the church and all that came to identify with his family during their moment of grief.
Aged 82, Late Chief Simeon Alozie Ogbonna is survived by wife, children, grandchildren and a host of other relatives.
The Chief of Staff to the Governor, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Sir Uzo Nwachukwu, Clerk of the State House of Assembly, Sir Johnpedro Ironkasi, Special Adviser to the Governor on Policies and Interventions, Rev. Fr. Christian Anokwuru, the Anglican Bishop of Umuahia Diocese, Rt. Rev. Geoffrey Ibeabuchi were among top government officials present during the funeral service.
