NDLEA Abia Command Pledges Stronger Collaboration With Youth Leaders, Red Cross In Anti-drug War   

Commander Nnadim Introduces Drug Integrity Test Kits, Assures Support For Sensitization

UMUAHIA, Abia State – The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Abia State Command, on Wednesday, receive separate courtesy visits from Abia youth leaders and the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Aba North Chapter, with both groups pledging stronger collaboration to fight drug abuse in the state.

The first delegation was led by the Special Assistant to the Governor of Abia State on Youth Matters, Comrade Onyebuchi Chukwu, alongside the Councillor representing Ward 1, Aba North, and other youth leaders. They were received by the NDLEA Abia State Commander, CN Leonard Chinagorom Nnadim.

Comrade Onyebuchi commended the Commander for his commitment within his first few weeks in office and welcomed him to Abia on behalf of Abia youths.

He pledged the readiness of Abia youths to collaborate with the NDLEA in tackling drug abuse, noting that “drugs have caused serious harm to youths.”

He stated that the Governor Alex Otti administration has zero tolerance for drug abuse and is passionate about youth welfare and development.

The youth leader also disclosed plans to organise a youth-focused programme and invited the NDLEA to sensitise young people on the dangers of drug abuse.

Responding, CN Nnadim assured the youth leaders of the Command’s support for their sensitisation efforts and urged them to always invite the NDLEA to youth enlightenment programmes.

He stressed that “youths are the future of the nation and must be adequately informed and protected from the dangers of substance abuse.”

CN Nnadim also introduced the Drug Integrity Test Kits, explaining their role in detecting drug use and promoting a drug-free society.

In a separate visit, the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Aba North Chapter, led by Emeka Jonathan Okoro, Divisional Coordinator, Aba South Division, also paid a courtesy call to the Command.

The Red Cross delegation welcomed the Commander to Abia and expressed readiness to strengthen synergy with the NDLEA.

They called for the inclusion of the Red Cross in NDLEA programmes and appealed for approval to conduct safety and emergency response training for NDLEA personnel in the state.

Responding, CN Nnadim commended the Red Cross for its humanitarian services, noting that both organizations share the common goal of protecting lives and serving humanity.

He assured the delegation of his willingness to work closely with the Red Cross and encouraged sustained collaboration.

The two visits, according to the Command, demonstrate the growing commitment of stakeholders, youth leaders and humanitarian organizations to support the NDLEA in building a safer, healthier and drug-free Abia State.
