Amuzukwu Ibeku Community Announces 2026 Iri-Iji Festival as Ukaegbu Extends Invitation to Lovers of Culture 

UMUAHIA — The Amuzukwu Ibeku community in Umuahia has announced the celebration of its annual Iri-Iji, New Yam, Cultural Festival, scheduled for Monday, September 14, 2026.

The festival, a cherished tradition that celebrates the rich cultural heritage, unity, gratitude and blessings of a bountiful harvest, will hold at the residence of the Honourable Commissioner for Transport, Dr. Chimezie Isaac Ukaegbu, 12 Chief Ukaegbu Road, Amuzukwu Ibeku, Umuahia, by 4:00 p.m.

In an invitation message, Dr. Ukaegbu cordially invites Ndi Amuzukwu Ibeku, friends, well-wishers and lovers of culture to join the community in honouring its heritage.

“Your presence will add colour, dignity and joy to this special celebration as we come together to honour our culture, strengthen our bonds and celebrate our shared heritage,” the Commissioner stated.

The Iri-Iji festival remains a significant cultural event in Igboland, marking the official presentation and celebration of the new yam harvest.
