Abia Ministry of Agriculture Embarks on Roadshow Ahead of Flag off of Farmers Inputs Support Programme
The Abia State Ministry of Agriculture today embarked on a road show to create awareness for the forthcoming empowerment programme of the State government through the ministry.
The event is the flag off of Farmers Inputs Support Programme aimed at empowering over 17 thousand farmers from across the 17 LGAs of the State with farming inputs to improve production.

Hon. Comm. Dr Clif Agbaeze addressing workers before the rally
Addressing the rally, the Commissioner for Agriculture Dr Clif Agbaeze commended the workers for trooping out en masse for the road show, attributing it to the passion they have for the job.
Agbaeze commended Governor Alex Otti for his avowed determination to transform the agriculture ecosystem, noting that the idea of empowering 17000 Abia farmers is to improve food production in the State.
He admitted that successive governments have made attempts in the past to empower farmers without achieving the objectives.
Agbaeze said the present administration decided to change strategy by ensuring that beneficiaries are selected from the farmer’s database domiciled with the Ministry of Agriculture.
The commissioner disclosed that having captured genuine farmers across the 17 LGAs in the State, the ministry would be able to monitor and follow up those that would be selected for empowerment to ensure that they expand their various farming activities.
“The whole vision of his excellency is to reduce food insecurity, improve productivity, empower our farmers, put food on the table, and money in their pockets, that’s what this is all about,” Agbaeze said.
“We’ll follow this input from the local government, which is the follow-on exercise that we’re going to have after the Friday exercise. We’ll follow this input through to the soil and make sure that what we are producing gets to where we intend it to get to.”
The Eagle News reports that the workers marched from the Ministry of Agriculture headquarters, Library Avenue, Umuahia through government, Umudike junction, IsiGate to okpara square before retiring to the office.
They used the opportunity to invite Abians and residents to witness the Flagg off of the empowerment programme slated to hold on Friday, July 10, 2026 at Umuahia Township Stadium, with governor Alex Otti as the chief host.
