Abia Govt Set to Commemorate 2025 World Food Day

The Abia State Government, under the leadership of His Excellency Dr Alex Chioma Oti OFR, the Governor of Abia State has announced plans to commemorate the 2025 World Food Day Celebration through the ministry of Agriculture.

According to a release signed by the Honourable Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Cliff Agbaeze, FCIB, the event is scheduled to hold on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at the International Conference Centre (ICC), Umuahia, by 10:00 a.m. prompt.

The Theme for this year’s celebration is “Hand in Hand for Better Food and a Better Future,” underscores the importance of collective efforts in building sustainable, resilient and inclusive food systems.

The release calls for stronger partnerships among government institutions, development agencies, research bodies, private sector stakeholders, and local communities in addressing the challenges of hunger and malnutrition.

The release further states that the commemoration will serve as a platform to foster dialogue, strengthen collaboration and enhance synergy among key players in the Agricultural value chain.

The release adds that His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Abia State will be the Chief Host of the occasion.

The release invites the Deputy Governor, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu; the Secretary to the State Government; the Chief of Staff to the Governor; the Head of Service; Honourable Commissioners; the Chairman and Members of the House Committee on Agriculture; farmers, and the general public to the event

The release encourages all participants and special invites to be seated before the arrival of the Governor.
