Governor cites waste enforcement, traffic compliance as signs of new attitude; urges resilience

UMUAHIA — Governor Alex Otti has congratulated the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM), South-East Region 6 Headquarters, Amuzukwu Umuahia, on its 29th Anniversary, describing milestone as evidence of sustained commitment, sacrifice and service to God.

Otti gave the message on Sunday, September 27, 2026, as Special Guest at the anniversary celebration held at church headquarters.

He commended the church for steady growth over 29 years during which three Regional Overseers have served, appreciated current leadership and prayed for continued growth and greater impact.

He used the occasion to commend Abians for the growing culture of civic responsibility, particularly in environmental cleanliness and compliance with public regulations.

The Governor recounted an incident involving a visitor to Umuahia who witnessed motorist improperly disposing waste and saw security personnel respond promptly by compelling the offender to retrieve the waste.

According to the Governor, the incident alongside orderly conduct of motorists at traffic lights demonstrates positive shift in public attitude towards government’s efforts to rebuild state.

“Our people are very good people. Very hardworking people. Honest people. That’s who we are,” Otti said.

While acknowledging that isolated cases of wrongdoing may occur in any society, the Governor noted that majority of Abians remain committed to positive values and urged the congregation to sustain responsible citizenship.

Otti further encouraged the people not to be discouraged by present difficulties.

“Things may look difficult today. But hard times don’t last. Tough people do,” he said.

Earlier in his sermon titled “Anointing for Success,” the Regional Overseer, Pastor Olugbenga Aremu, charged Christians to remain focused, resilient and committed to purpose to achieve meaningful results.

Drawing lessons from biblical account of anointing and divine elevation, Aremu explained that anointing represents God’s empowerment, authority and grace for fulfilment of purpose, noting that challenges should be seen as preparation for greater responsibilities.

The Regional Overseer commended Otti, whom he described as man of vision, for visible transformation across Abia state, particularly in road infrastructure, noting that developments demonstrate purposeful leadership.

The anniversary featured cutting of cake and presentation of awards to distinguished members of the church.
