Announces allocation of land for PFN secretariat; urges prophetic voice, constructive counsel

UMUAHIA — Governor Alex Otti has congratulated newly inaugurated executives of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Abia State Chapter, urging them to see new positions as sacred call to service and opportunity to contribute to spiritual and moral transformation of state.

Otti spoke on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at Active Word Assembly, Ikot-Ekpene Road, Umuahia, during the inauguration of Local Government Executive Officers of PFN, Abia State Chapter.

The Governor was represented by his Special Assistant on Religious Matters, Apostle Kenneth Wiper.

He said administration deeply values contributions of Christian community to peace, development and progress of Abia, conveying warm felicitations and prayers to new executives.

“This is a divine call to serve. It is not merely a change of political office or transition; it is a sacred mandate to be chosen to lead the body of Christ at a time like this,” Otti stated.

The Governor emphasised the important role of PFN as partners in the development of the state, describing Christian leaders as staunch intercessors whose prayers and counsel remain valuable to governance.

He said administration had consistently acknowledged place of divine grace and prayers of Church in its journey, adding that during recently held State Solemn Assembly and Covenant Renewal Service, Abia was dedicated to God.

Otti urged new PFN leadership to sustain partnership with government by offering constructive counsel, providing prophetic voice and mobilising citizens towards righteousness.

“We need your prophetic voice to keep us on our toes, to keep us on watch, and your counsel to guide our policies, because one policy can affect the entire Church overnight,” he stated.

He stressed that meaningful nation-building requires cooperation between the Church and government in pursuit of truth, equity, common good and uplifting of the poor and vulnerable.

The Governor disclosed that Abia State Government has allocated land to PFN for construction of its secretariat, describing the gesture as part of his administration’s commitment to supporting growth and activities of the Christian community.

He assured PFN leadership that doors of State Government remain open to continued engagement and collaboration, describing government and Church as “co-labourers in the vineyard” working towards better Abia.

Earlier, Abia State Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev. Ojo Ojo, urged them to lead with fear of God, charging them to be shining lights and live exemplary lives worthy of emulation.

Delivering sermon titled “The Vessel That Will Not Be Used,” Rev. Dr. John Eze warned that one of most painful experiences for servant of God is to be called by God but fail to remain useful to Him.

“Every level is valuable when it is used,” he said, urging new leaders not to abuse opportunities entrusted to them but to remain vessels of honour and faithfully champion work of God in respective local government areas.

Rev. Eze charged them to demonstrate the grace of God through practical service, sacrifice and renewed commitment, reminding them that grace is not merely an outward display but preparation for greater service.

He urged them to put God first and conduct themselves as true ministers and ambassadors of Christ at grassroots.
