Abia State Diaspora Commission Congratulates Super Falcons on Historic WAFCON Victory

The Abia State Diaspora Commission, on behalf of the State Governor, Dr Alex Otti and all Abians in diaspora has extended heartfelt congratulations to the indomitable Super Falcons of Nigeria for their spectacular triumph as champions of the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) held in Morocco.

Speaking in an interview with journalists in Abuja, the Executive Secretary, Abia State Diaspora Commission, Rev. Dr. Annie Onu described the victory of the girls as historic.

She said that the victory is not only a demonstration of skill, unity, and determination but also a powerful affirmation of Nigeria’s growing excellence in global women’s football.

According to Rev. Dr. Annie Onu, the Falcons’ performance showcased exceptional talent, remarkable discipline, and unwavering national pride that captured the hearts of millions across the continent and beyond.

Rev. Dr. Annie Onu saluted Ms. Esther Okoronkwo, a proud daughter of Abia State, whose extraordinary contributions were instrumental throughout the tournament.

“Esther’s brilliance on the pitch, her technical precision, energy, and tactical discipline, reflected the very spirit of the New Abia; championed by His Excellency, Governor Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, “resilience visionary, and globally competitive.”

She stood tall not only as a footballer but as a beacon of Abia’s excellence, inspiring countless others within and outside our state. Esther, you have done Abia proud. You are a true ambassador of our collective aspirations New Abia!

“This victory deeply aligns with the renewed vision of the Abia State Government under the transformative leadership of His Excellency, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, whose dedication to youth development, gender empowerment, talent harnessing, and excellence continues to redefine what is possible for the Abia of today and tomorrow,” Rev. Dr. Annie Onu stated.

The Executive Secretary of the Diaspora Commission used the opportunity to thank President Bola Almed Tinubu for hosting the victirous Super Falcons and honouring them with conferment of national honours of Officer Order of Niger (OON) and housing gift of 3-bedroom flat each and a cash reward of 100,000 Dollars each.

Rev. Annie Onu, who also commended the two Abians who played in the competition saluted the coaching crew, support staff, and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for their commitment, strategic guidance, and unwavering belief in these young stars.
