I did not Stop Autopsy on My Late Husband’s Body – Ugoeze Chinwe Ajiri

The last may not have been heard about the alleged rising tension in Ntalakwu-Oboro, Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State over the burial of late traditional ruler, His Royal Highness Eze Samuel Ajiri, without conducting an autopsy or securing the full consent of his immediate family and traditional council.

In a petition said to have been written to the Inspector General of Police, IGP by the immediate family and traditional council of Ikwuano, it was alleged that the monarch’s death was controversial, hence their demand for an autopsy, before any burial rites will be performed.

However, speaking in an interview, wife of the late traditional ruler, Ugoeze Chinwe Ajiri said it was not true that she refused any autopsy after being accussed of killing her husband for ritual purposes.

According to her, as the only way of exonerating herself, she accepted it but on the condition that if nothing is found, they will pay her N500m for ridiculing her, and that was when the said kins of the late traditional ruler, stepped back, insisting she is sticking to that.

She narrated how she was abducted from their residence in Port Harcourt by men of the Nigeria Police who claim to have come from Abuja, even as they later took her to zone 9, Police Command in Umuahia, where she was thrown into the cell, while totally traumatized.

She was handed the petition which alleged she killed her husband, written by the same people, she confessed, dealt with his husband while he was alive, even as she was refused any form of legal representation all through the nine days of her ordeal.

When she was forced to take the IPO, and her husband’s kinsmen, they visited the hospitals her husband was treated before his eventual death, but refused to ask what led to the man’s death.

She was later forced to their residence which they searched without any search warrant, even as they demanded for the documents of a said estate the man had, not excluding cars.

According to her, her bedroom and that of her late husband were thrown upside down while they were searching for the documents, even as she alleged that she accousted one of the office, who took away a wrap of N100,000 notes on her dressing table, inside her room, before they bundled her back to Umuahia again.

She was later left off the hook when she paid the sum of ₦2 million demanded by the IPO and the CO.

She later petioned Abuja who handed over the case to Enugu Zone to tidy up as well as invite all parties to appear before it, even though neither the petitioners not the Zone 9 Police Command adhering to that order, just as it was revealed that the Zone 9 Police Commander toyed with the order.

It was at this point that the widow went to the Police Service Commission which has seen the under dealings in the case, and is currently handling the matter even as the Chairman has not granted permission, talk more of arranging for a befitting burial the late traditional ruler deserves.

Meanwhile, there are indications that some disgruntled elements within the community are still conniving with the Police to cause more disaffection and disunity in the family

There are also claims that Prince Dike, (whose mother is a white), and who has never returned home in the past 25 years is being used by these men to destroy all that the late traditional ruler had acquired while alive, and seem to stop at nothing at achieving their hearts desire.

His half brothers, also in the United States of America and who are the children of the surviving wife of the late monarch, accused her of killing the man, have warned that no autopsy should be carried out on their late father, except by the hospital where he died, and in their full glare.

The petition by Mr Joseph Igwe, Head of Chambers, M. O. Ubani SAN & Co, on behalf of the monarch’s first son and heir apparent, Prince Dike Ajiri, raised issues regarding the delay in the announcement of his passing and the need for an autopsy to determine the actual cause of death.
