Abia Leadership Academy Bootcamp Opens in Umuahia

As part of his commitment towards raising a new generation of visionary leaders, Governor Alex Otti has declared open the Abia Leadership Academy Bootcamp.

The programme is aimed at empowering teenagers and young adults aged 16 to 20 with leadership skills, core values, and problem-solving abilities.

Declaring the Bootcamp open on behalf of the Governor at Government College, Umuahia, Deputy Governor, Ikechukwu Emetu, described the initiative as a seed-planting exercise and an investment in the future leaders of Abia, Nigeria, and the world.

He highlighted the importance of raising young people who are active leaders in practice, not just in theory, to shape their character and vision at a critical age.

The Governor also encouraged participants to develop self-reliance, stating that standing on their own feet is essential for their growth and success.

In his speech, Prof. Kenneth Kalu, Secretary to the State Government, said the Abia Leadership Academy aims to train empathetic leaders who make informed decisions that positively impact society.

Kalu emphasized the importance of understanding and relating to the needs and concerns of the people and urged participants to cultivate empathy, listen actively, and be committed to creating a better future for all.

Contributing, Prince Okey Kanu, Commissioner for Information, identified adopting a positive mindset and choosing one’s circles wisely as crucial for success.

The Commissioner advised participants to be intentional about the company they keep, the books they read, and the experiences they have, as these shape their worldview and influence their decisions.

Also speaking, Mazi Mike Akpara and Pastor Eno Jerry Eze, reiterated that full engagement in the training is essential for growth.

They urged participants to be fully present, participate actively in discussions, and take advantage of the resources and mentorship available to them.

According to them, the academy is a unique opportunity to learn, network, and develop the skills and knowledge needed to succeed.

Mr. Johnson Abbally, the Lead Consultant, credited Governor Alex Otti’s vision for making the Abia Leadership Academy possible.

He noted that the initiative’s goal is to produce global leaders capable of redefining governance in Nigeria, highlighting the Governor’s commitment to shaping the next generation of leaders.

The Abia Leadership Academy Bootcamp offers a comprehensive programme featuring: workshops, mentorship and practical Exercises.
