Abia Govt Inaugurates 35-man Enforcement Team at Nnenna Oti Bus Terminal
A thirty-five man Abia State Transport/monitoring Enforcement Team has been constituted at the Nnenna Oti Bus Terminal, Umuahia.
Inaugurating the team, the State Commissioner for Transport, Dr. Chimezie Isaac Ukaegbu, said the team is to enforce compliance and ensure the relocation of all commercial vehicle operators into the Bus terminal.
Dr. Ukaegbu used the opportunity to announce commencement of full enforcement effective from Saturday 13 June, 2026.
He reiterated the Abia State Government commitment to sanitising transport operations and restoring order, safety, and compliance across all motor parks in the state.
The Commissioner therefore advised park operators in the informal transport sector to comply by relocating to the Nnenna Oti Bus Terminal and cautioned members of the team against intimidation or violence.
“I did not ask any of you to intimidate or hurt anyone. We don’t want a situation where some will stay in the terminal while others stay outside. We want to work in uniformity,” Ukaegbu stated.
Responding, the Chairman of the team, Hon. Uchenna Umekwe thanked the State government for finding them worthy to serve as well commended the Commissioner for his wise approach to matters as it concerns transport operators.
Umekwe assured that the team will remain law-abiding and will not disappoint the government or the people but will operate in line with the policies guiding the team.
Members of the Team include: Hon. Uchenna Sunday Umekwe (Akaraka) as Chairman, Ikenna Ukairo Vice Chairman, Emmanuel Ogbonnaya Secretary and Ahaiwe Echefu executive member.
