Come Back To Aba, There Is Room For Business Again — Otti Woos Investors As He Commissions ORIS Signature Hotel
Says 55-room hotel sold out before commissioning; promises more development in second term
ABA — Governor Alex Otti has called on investors who left Abia State to return and leverage the business-friendly environment his administration has created, saying Aba has rebounded as safe haven for investments.
Otti made call on Sunday while commissioning 55-room ORIS Signature Hotel in Aba.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Governor congratulated the Chief Executive Officer of the hotel, Owelle Greg Okafor, for delivering the project within two years plus few months, noting that the facility was already being sold out even before commissioning, an indication that opportunities in Aba are endless.
“My understanding is that this hotel project started early in 2024 and two years plus few months later, he has delivered it. When we came on board, all of us who were brought up in Aba know what we met. I have over 55 rooms here and I’m told it is already being sold out even before commissioning. So it tells me opportunities here are endless,” Otti said.
The Governor recalled that when he assumed office, Aba was characterised by poor road infrastructure and ailing industries, but noted that the narrative has changed.
He said what his administration has done so far is only a scratching of the surface, assuring that Abians will witness more developmental projects in second term.
“This town will continue to grow. All our people who relocated, we are asking them to come back quickly. A lot of them are already back. If you don’t make haste and come back, maybe when you want to come back, there will be nowhere for you to stay. Never again will this town go back to where we are coming from,” Otti declared.
Earlier, General Manager of the hotel, Sharon Mani, said the facility is 55-room hospitality edifice with world-class amenities, disclosing that the company was motivated to invest because of conducive environment created by Governor Otti.
In his remarks, Mayor of Aba North, Hon. Timothy Iheke, extolled Otti for creating enabling environment that boosted economic activities, saying properties which had no value in previous years have now appreciated significantly.
Speaking on behalf of Aba business community, industrialist Sir Leo Ike Okoye thanked Governor for openness and commitment to businesses, urging Aba community to ensure Otti is re-elected in 2027 to sustain transformation.
In vote of thanks, CEO of ORIS Signature Hotel, Owelle Greg Okafor, thanked Otti for fixing Aba, assuring that in Governor’s second term, he would be commissioning more projects.
