Nkole Secures NDC Ticket for Abia North Senatorial District, vows to Lead Party to Victory in 2027

A former member of the House of Representatives for Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Uko Nkole has emerged the Nigeria Democratic Congress NDC candidate for Abia North Senatorial District.

Rt. Hon. Nkole who won the majority of the votes cast was declared winner through affirmation of all the registered members of NDC in the six Local Government Areas of Arochukwu, Bende, Isuikwuato, Ohafia, Umunneochi, that make up Abia North Senatorial Zone.

Also the sole presidential candidate of the party, Mr Peter Obi was also elected by affirmation as well as Dr. Agwu Emele Agwu for Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency, O’Brien Iroh for Ohafia North State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, among others.

Speaking to newsmen after the results were declared at Ozu Abam field by the NDC returning officer for Arochukwu LGA, Okereke Irechukwu, Uko Nkole expressed gratitude to the people of Abia North and the Nigeria Democratic Congress NDC for affirming him as the party’s senatorial candidate for the 2027 general election through an unopposed primary election.

Nkole described his emergence as a reflection of the confidence reposed in him by the people based on his performance in the previous office, his character, and the growing popularity of the Nigeria Democratic Congress in Abia State.

The former lawmaker noted that the primary election for the 11 wards in the five clans that make up Arochukwu LGA produced Mr. Peter Obi, for President, Agwu Emele Agwu, for Arochukwu Ohafia Federal Constituency and Hon Chinedu Ogbonnaya Ijoma for Arochukwu State Constituency.

He expressed confidence that the Nigeria Democratic Congress NDC would record victory in the forthcoming general elections. He promised to lead the NDC to victory in the 2027 general election.

Nkole who further affirmed Peter Obi as the best candidate to lead Nigeria as president urged all party faithful in the State to join hands to work for his emergence.

“I sincerely want to thank God for my party, for giving me the ticket, and also to my family for giving me their prayers and support. To my teaming supporters and party members who participated, I say a big thank you.

He thanked his constituents for turning out in large numbers to participate in the primary election and commended the returning officer for conducting a transparent and credible exercise.

Nkole expressed optimism that the Nigerians would vote massively for the NDC in the forthcoming election, and called on eligible voters to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and participate actively in the 2027 general elections.

“We are confident that we will win and we are prepared to go for it. We are very optimistic that we will emerge victorious in the 2027 elections. We have been there before and the work we did is proof of our commitment to the people,” he stated.

Nkole further urged supporters and residents of the state to come out en masse on the election day and exercise their democratic rights to ensure the Nigeria Democratic Congress secures victory across all elective positions.
