The Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed claims by former Minister of State for Science, Technology and Innovation, Henry Ikoh, that he secured the party’s governorship ticket, insisting that such assertions are false and misleading.

Speaking at a press briefing in Umuahia, the party’s Publicity Secretary, Uche Aguoru, clarified that the APC governorship primary election was conducted through the direct primary system and that Eric Opah emerged as the clear winner.

Aguoru stated that the party has records of the exercise and maintained that the outcome of the primary reflected the will of APC members who participated in the process.

He urged party members and the public to disregard any contrary claims regarding the governorship ticket, stressing that the party remains committed to upholding democratic principles and respecting the outcome of its internal processes.

The APC spokesperson further called on members to remain united and focused on strengthening the party ahead of future political contests in the state.
