Veeklean Cleaning Services Launches Project Keep Abia Klean Initiative to Complement Govt Environmental Sanitation Efforts

In a move aimed at supporting the Abia State government’s efforts of a clean environment, Veeklean Cleaning Services Limited has launched what it called Project Keep Abia Klean Initiative.

The project keep Abia klean is also aimed at sensitising Abia citizens and residents on the need to imbibe the culture of cleanliness thereby complementing the State government’s efforts.

Speaking at Ahiaeke market on Saturday during its maiden edition of environmental sanitation, Victory Emeje Ogheneruemu, Director of the Project said the initiative is to creat public awareness that keeping Abia State clean should not be left in the hands of the government alone.

Ogheneruemu noted that Abians also have a role to play in complementing the efforts of government emphasising that when a working government is supported by a working people, there will be a working state.

On why he embarked on the project, Victory said he has a personal phobia for a dirty environment, adding that his drive for cleanliness motivated him to do the free clean up.

He further encouraged people to learn to separate their wastes between perishables and non-perishables to make it easier for recycling.

“When you have a perishable waste, put it in a separate trash bag. When you have a non-perishable waste, a waste that can be recycled, put it in a separate trash bag, so when ASEPA comes for collection, it’s easier for them to have a cleaner state, he said.

“Don’t litter the environment, you’re driving on the road, resist the urge to want to throw things off the window. Keep it in your car, when you get to your house, you can trash it properly, and we’ll make our estate a cleaner place.”

On his part, one of the volunteers and microbiologist, Oguayo Chijioke Emanuel expressed joy that he joined other volunteers for the project Clean Abia, saying that he has passion for cleanliness.

Emmanuel said that a clean environment keeps us free from all microbial contamination and free from illness.

He said: “As a microbiologist, health first, safety first, because health is wealth, and when you live in a clean environment, you will be free from all sorts of communicable diseases.”

He advised young men and women to consider their health, and safety of the environment, adding “properly dispose your waste, don’t litter the environment anyhow, and properly take away your waste to avoid illness, to avoid illness from the environment.”

He asked those throwing their garbage into the gutters to desist as they are doing themselves more harm than good, explained that throwing refuse into the gutter can lead to the spread of communicable diseases.

One of the partners from PZ Cleaning Services limited, Udonsi Eke Ezinne expressed delight over her support to a friend and a brother in the business in the project Keep Abia Clean initiative.

Ezinne added that the whole essence of what they did was to contribute to the cleanliness in Abia State.

“It is important to clean the environment for good health, one is also for helping the government and encouraging the members of the community to keep the environment clean for us to enjoy fresh breath, fresh air and a good environment,” she said.

“I implore every woman out there, whether you are on the streets, in your homes, wherever you are, always make sure you keep your environment clean, always make sure we join our hands together to keep Abia clean.”

The Eagle News reports that the project keep Abia Klean Initiative, powered by Veeklean Cleaning Services Limited, drew volunteers from among the young people who gathered at Ahiaeke market in Umuahia North Local government area, not only clean the environment but also sensitised traders on how to bag their wastes for disposal.
