The Abia State Commissioner for transport, Dr Chimezie Isaac Ukaegbu met with private motor park owners in Umuahia over planned relocation of existing parks into Umuahia Central Bus Terminal.

This is coming as the Central Bus Terminal project nears completion.

Speaking during the meeting, Ukaegbu explained that the initiative is part of the government’s broader effort to improve traffic management, enhance security, and create a more organized and efficient transport system.

He assured the park owners that the process would be inclusive and guided by dialogue, with their concerns and suggestions taken into consideration.

The Commissioner reaffirmed the government’s commitment to working closely with all stakeholders to ensure a seamless transition that benefits transport operators, commuters, and the general public.

The park owners, in turn, welcomed the engagement and expressed their views on the proposed relocation, calling for transparency and proper infrastructure within the new terminals to support smooth operations.

The Eagle News reports that highlight of the meeting was a facility tour round the terminal led by Dr Chimezie Ukaegbu.
