Ukaegbu Confirms Completion of Umuahia Central Bus Terminal, Sets Delivery Date for Aba

The Umuahia Central Bus Terminal has been completed and handed over to the State government with an inauguration date yet to be fixed.

Abia State Commissioner for Transport, Dr Chimezie Ukaegbu who disclosed during a live radio programme in Umuahia, added that the ongoing Aba Terminal would be ready before the end of the year.

He pointed out that the State government embarked on the Construction of the terminals in order to decongest the towns, keep them organised and improve the transport system.

He pointed out that the State government was also building a trailer park along the expressway to house trailers and heavy-duty trucks.

The Commissioner informed that his has initiated regular engagement with Stakeholders in the transport sector in the State on the State Government’s mode of operation with the bus Terminals.

Ukaegbu noted that subsidising the fares of the Green shuttle service is part of government social responsibility in line with Governor Alex Otti’s campaign promises.

He informed that about 26 charging stations have been installed with more to come as the next 20 buses arrive by April.

He said the transition to a Digital Transport System and compliance level has been progressive disclosing that all the recent developments in the transport sector are in line with the state’s resolve to Develop an Intelligent Transport System (ITS).

The Commissioner further stated that government agents have been stationed at the Bus Shelters to assist people get the ABSSIN, the Abia Connect Card and also Recharge it.
