Abia APC Calls for Dialogue as ABSU Suspends Lecturer Over Welfare Concerns

UMUAHIA, Abia State – The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Abia State has called on the state government to address issues raised by Professor Nnamdi Nwaeze concerning the welfare of workers at Abia State University, ABSU.
The party also condemned the suspension of the lecturer by the university management over alleged social media posts relating to workers’ welfare.
The Abia State APC Publicity Secretary, Uche Aguoru, made the call while addressing journalists in Umuahia on Friday.
Aguoru urged the Abia State Government to look beyond the social media posts and focus on the concerns raised by the professor, particularly those relating to the welfare and working conditions of staff of the university.
He said the suspension should not be used to avoid addressing legitimate concerns about workers’ welfare.
“The suspension of the lecturer should not be used to avoid addressing legitimate concerns about workers’ welfare,” Aguoru stated, stressing the need for dialogue and transparency in resolving the matter.
The APC spokesperson argued that engaging with staff and addressing grievances through proper channels would better serve the interest of the university and the state.
As of press time, the Abia State Government and ABSU management were yet to issue an official response to the APC’s position.
