Management Says Action Follows ASUU-ABSU Plea, Investigation Still Ongoing

UTURU, Abia State – The Management of Abia State University, Uturu, ABSU, has lifted the suspension placed on Professor Nnamdi C. Nwaeze of the Department of Economics, Faculty of Economics and Management Sciences and recalled him to duty with immediate effect.

The decision was conveyed in a letter dated September 3, 2026, signed by the Ag. Registrar, Dr. (Mrs.) Joy Nwankwo.

The letter referenced an earlier communication of August 12, 2026, Ref: ABSU/REG/26/87.

According to the letter, the recall followed a written plea from ASUU-ABSU to the University Management.

“The University Management hereby lifts your suspension effective immediately,” the letter stated.

The Management, however, noted that the lifting of the suspension is “without prejudice to the extant investigative panel on you, which ultimate report is being awaited.”

This means the internal probe into the matter involving Prof. Nwaeze will continue despite his return to duty.

Prof. Nwaeze’s suspension had earlier generated concerns within the academic community, with calls for due process and adherence to institutional regulations.

With the recall, the senior lecturer is expected to resume his academic and departmental responsibilities while awaiting the conclusion of the investigative panel.
