Ukaegbu Meets Transport Unions to Resolve Issues Surrounding Government Revenue

The Abia State Commissioner for Transport, Dr Chimezie Isaac Ukaegbu has met with leaders of the different transport unions in the state with a view to resolving issues surrounding revenue.

This meeting became a necessity after recent issues surrounding government revenue and tickets applicable to all transport unions in the state.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Ukaegbu thanked the union leaders for their efforts and contributions towards the peaceful cooperation between the state government and the different transport unions in the state.

He further reassured them that the state Ministry of Transport under this present administration led by Dr Alex Otti will always protect their interest and welfare.

Contributing the Chairman, Board of Internal Revenue, Prof. Udochukwu Ogbonna reaffirmed that the present government has a human face and would do everything possible to ensure business progresses while also protecting their rights.

Ogbonna encouraged them to maintain their regular approved payments to the State as it helps the state work.

Responding, the Chairman, National Union of Road Transport Workers, Mr Chukwuma Azode appreciated the state Commissioner for Transport for his commitment to their improved welfare.

Azode promised their continued collaboration with him to sanitize and
improve the state’s transport sector in line with the goals and directives of Governor Alex Otti.

The meeting had in attendance the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Transport, Dr Obioma Nwaogbe, the Special Adviser to the Governor on IGR, Hon. Emmanuel Okpechi, the state Director for Transport, Comr. Boniface Oleka and the various Chairmen of the different Motor Unions.
