Tragedy Averted at Umuahia Timber Market as Trailer Falls on Tricycle in Near Fatal Accident
Some Traders escaped death this Tuesday morning at Timber Industrial Market, Umuahia when a trailer loaded with Timber fell down while trying to drive into the Market.
Eye witnesses report that Tricycles and other properties were destroyed, although no life was lost.
Speaking with our correspondent, at the scene, the affected traders, including Mrs Helen Onwuegbu and Oluchi Asoha, thanked God for saving their lives despite the loses they incurred.

They attributed the cause to bad road network in the Market caused by incessant flooding in the Industrial Market.
In an interview, the President of Umuahia Timber Industrial Market, Sir Luke Anozie Ufomadu, thanked God that no life was lost in the incident.
Sir Ufomadu used the medium to draw the attention of the State Government to the erosion and incessant flooding in the Umuahia Timber Industrial Market that has hindered access to the entrances and roads in the market.
He noted that the problem is making it difficult for vehicles especially Heavy Duty Cars to operate seamlessly in the Market.

He lauded the developmental strides of the Governor, Dr Alex Otti in the State, especially his infrastructural development across the State and appealed to him to extend the gesture to Umuahia Timber Industrial Market.
Also speaking, the Chairman, Building Material Section of the Industrial Market, Mr Onyemechi Ndu, expressed optimism that the Governor will come to their rescue by fixing the dilapidated road network and damaged drainage system that have posed a danger to smooth operations in the Market.
