Akwa Ibom State-owned airline, Ibom Air has banned a passenger, Ms. Comfort Emmanson from flying with the airline after a violent incident on its Uyo–Lagos flight on Sunday, August 10, 2025.

In a statement, Ibom Air said the trouble started before take-off when Ms. Emmanson refused to switch off her phone despite several warnings.

She only complied after another passenger turned it off, leading to a heated outburst.

On arrival in Lagos, she attacked the Purser who had instructed her earlier, stepping on her, pulling off her wig and glasses, hitting her with footwear, and slapping her. Another crew member who tried to help was also slapped.

She then attempted to take a fire extinguisher to use as a weapon. Security was called, but she also assaulted them and even slapped the ground supervisor before being arrested by airport security and handed over to the police.

Ibom Air says it has reported the matter to the NCAA and will not tolerate unruly passengers who endanger safety.
