The Abia State government says it will soon launch Pension Scheme for Abia public servants, with ten Pension Fund Administrators already selected.

The Commissioner for Information Okey Kanu disclosed this while briefing newsmen after this week’s Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Alex Otti.

Kanu said the milestone underscores the administration’s commitment to workers’ welfare and reforms in the public service.

In addition, the State executive Council has approved a cultural initiative mandating members of EXCO to wear traditional attire on the first Monday of every month, while civil servants will do so every Friday.

According to the Commissioner, the decision is part of its cultural renaissance and a way of promoting indigenous craftsmanship and Igbo identity.

Kanu said road construction, reconstruction, and maintenance remain in full gear, with direct labour projects ongoing in 55 locations across the state and five already completed.
