GCUOBA Class of 93 Ends AGM/Reunion, Undertakes to Give Back to Alma Mater

The 2026 Reunion of Government College Umuahia Old Boys’ Association GCUOBA Class of 93′ has ended in Umuahia, with a resolution by the 93 set to give back to their Alma Mater.

The three-day event which began with the arrival on Friday, visit to Government College Umuahia on Saturday morning, AGM in the afternoon with the event climaxing on Sunday with a Class Thanksgiving.

Leading the class is Comrade Ifeanyi Kenneth Nwaji who was reelected and sworn in as President for the next two years, Abogu Chisom, Vice President and Imeremba Imeremba as the General Secretary.

Other members of the executive sworn in on the day include Ubadire Nwachukwu, Assistant General Secretary, Prince Udeagha Ndukwe Udeagha, Treasurer, and Emeka Nwoko, Financial Secretary.

The rest are Ogechukwu Nwankwo Welfare Director, Amah-Jerry Douglas Ugonna , ICT Director/ Public Relations Officer, Iheanyi Ezima as Provost.

In his address at the AGM, the class President Comrade Ifeanyi Nwaji called for concerted effort in moving GCUOBA Class of 93′ forward.

He highlighted some of his achievements in the first two years in office to among other things, reviving the Umuahian Spirit within the Class and making the set a darling among other GCUOBA sets.

Nwaji said he was more poised to take the Class to greater heights considering the overwhelming acceptability of his leadership shown through his reelection.

“As we enter into the new faze, I urge us to sustain whatever achievement we have seen within the last 23 months. One thing you can take for sure is that I am more determined like never before to take the glory of GCUOBA Class of 93′ to its next level.”

Earlier in his address, the Chairman of GCUOBA ’93 Electoral Committee, Dr. Emmanuel Onuoha urged the new leaders to serve with humility and transparency and treat everyone with fairness.

Onuoha, represented by the Secretary of Eleco, Victor Abraham further called for the support of the Class to the new leadership

Other speakers on the day, including a former Governorship candidate of YPP in Abia State and member of the class of 93, Engr. Joseph Nkoro, two former class presidents, Barr. Ugochukwu Zik and Comrade Ogechukwu Nwankwo while narrating their various contributions in the journey so far, urged all to keep the unity of the Class intact and ensure that GCUOBA Class of 93 maintains the lead in the comity of others.

In an interview with The Eagle News, some members of the Class of 93, Dr. Nnamdi Uzoechi and Pastor Onyeka Ukariwe Eni emphasised the need for unity in diversity and enjoined mates to continue in the right direction.

They expressed excitement that the Reunion was a huge success and said they were looking forward to another one going forward while calling on those who could not make it to plan towards the next one.
