Emetu Leads Abia Excos, Others to Celebrate Ukaegbu on his Birthday

There was an avalanche of eulogies for Abia State Commissioner for Transport Dr Chimezie Isaac Ukaegbu as he marked yet another milestone of a new age yesterday.

Leading the Abia State executive Council team was the Deputy Governor, Engr Ikechukwu Emetu, who stood in for Governor Alex Otti.

Speaking at the event, Emetu described Ukaegbu as a very hardworking individual, citing his interpretation of Governor Otti’s vision in the Transport Ministry as a case study.

The Deputy Governor added that the celebrant was “an extraordinary gentleman, very calm and quiet,” emphasising his contributions to the state executive council.

“On your special day, all I can wish you is the best you wish yourself. And I’m also wishing you great health, filled with so much prosperity that you already have,” Emetu said.

In their various speeches, the Commissioner for Information Prince Okey Kanu and his Environment counterpart, Philemon Ogbonna described Dr Ukaegbu as a great guy, a friend, a gentleman, a colleague.

The Commissioners extolled Ukaegbu’s vital role in a critical Ministry as transport, adding he is driving doing a great job in leading the transformation going on in that sector.

For Lady Victoria Onwubiko, Managing Director Abia State Signage and Advertising Agency (ABSAA) and Senior Special Assistant to the governor on Ease of Doing Business, Barr. Agbonma Okeobasi, Dr Chimezie Ukaegbu is a perfect gentleman with an endearing character.

“He has very very amiable. Always smiling and ready to listen to you. So, he’s somebody that we have come to truly appreciate as one of our real mission workers.

On his tenure as Commissioner for Transport, Barr. Okeobasi has this to say:

“Dr. Ukaegbu is somebody that is very innovative. Because it is this tenure that the government has done something that has not been done anywhere else in Nigeria. Which is bringing out the electric buses.

“We are the first to do it. Even if other states are doing it now, we are the first to do it. So, it shows the kind of innovative manager of resources that he is.

“I also know that within his workplace, he is also very much valued by his people. Because he leads them well. I mean, there has hardly been anybody that said anything negative about Dr. Ukaegbu.”

Other dignitaries on the day including the Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps FRSC, Abia State, Ngozi Ezeoma and the 7th Vice Chancellor of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike MOUAU, Profm Ursula Ngozi Akanwa described that the celebrant as very accommodating and supportive.

The celebration attracted many notable figures, including the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Pastor Caleb Ajagba,
the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Ikechukwu Uwana SAN, the Mayor of Isuikwuato LGA and ALGON Chairman, Chinedu Ekeke, among others who extended their warmest felicitations to the Commissioner on his special day.
