Abia NUJ appreciates Otti for Granting Audience to its Leadership, Tasks Members on Professional Conduct

Abia State Council of the Nigeria Union Journalists, NUJ, has expressed appreciation to Governor Alex Otti, for the recent audience granted to the Union Executives who paid him a courtesy visit recently.

In a communique issued at the end of its monthly congress, the NUJ appreciated the governor for what it described as a very useful deliberation with its leadership and assurances from the governor which they hoped would take care of its challenges.

The Union also noted the difficulty in securing the audience and extolled the leadership of the Council led by Comrade Chidi Asonye for taking the bold steps in the interest of the Union.

The Congress called on her members to be professional in the discharge of their duties and to carry themselves with the highest form of decorum for which the journalism profession is known.

The Council also expressed concern over the rising cases of road accidents in Umuahia, Aba and major highways within the State.

The NUJ, which urged the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, and sister agencies to upscale their responsibilities on the roads, advised the agencies to control over speeding and other dangerous conducts by motorists.

In a communique further appealed to drivers to take road safety rules and regulations very seriously by obeying signs.

The communique also raised concern about the rising cases of crime in Umuahia, Aba and some other parts of the State, and urged the State government and security agencies to nip crime in the bud before it happens.

They further advised the residents of Abia to see security as everyone’s responsibility by reporting suspicious activities to security agencies.
