Abia-born Geoffrey Breaks Guinness World Record, Paints 275 faces in One Hour

A young Abian, Nuel Geoffrey has broken the Guinness World Record after painting 275 faces within one hour, beating the previous record of 217 faces in the process.

Commissioner for Information, Okey Kanu, disclosed this in Umuahia, during this week’s executive Council meeting, noting that the official confirmation of that feat is being awaited.

Kanu attributed the feat to Abia’s large pool of creative talents, adding that it was in line with the rising profile of Abia state in the field of creative arts.

“This feat would not have been possible without the support of His Excellency, the Governor of Abia state, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, through the State Ministry of Arts, Culture and Creative Economy,” Kanu said.

Prince Kanu disclosed that so far, 1,604 applications have been received for the ongoing recruitment of Abia Health workforce which is progressing very well.  

He said that the application portal would be officially closed on the 9th of August, 2025 and called on qualified individuals to apply.

“We therefore wish to use this medium to encourage more qualified medical personnel to apply for positions that are available, ranging from positions for nursing officers, medical laboratory scientists, physiotherapists, dental technologists, medical radiographers, optometrists, pharmacists, and medical / dental officers,” Prince Kanu stated.

Prince Kanu further said that, the State Ministry of Arts, Culture and Creative Economy is compiling an all-year-round book featuring cultural festivals, a compendium of cultural festivals, calendar, key heritage sites, licenced hotels and top visual spots across the state. He added that it is meant to encourage tourism in the state.

Contributing, the Commissioner for Arts, Culture and Creative Economy Mr. Mathew Ekwuribe, said that he launched a programme which was tagged “Beyond Creativity Talent Hunt”, adding that the government of Dr. Otti is ready to harness the creative talents that exist in Abia.

“The Ministry of Art, Culture, and Creative Economy is working on harnessing our cultural calendar, meaning, we want to know the celebrations or festivals or cultural carnivals that happen in every city to enable us to monitor it, and also to enable us to ensure that people know where to go at any given time,” Ekwuribe said.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information, Chris Onwuegbu and Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ukoha Njoku Ukoha were present at the briefing.
