You’re on Mission to Save Lives, Abia Transport Boss, Ukaegbu, Tells Vehicle Inspection Officers

A training programme for Vehicle Inspection Officers has commenced in Abia State with a charge on them to ensure that every vehicle on our roads is safe, roadworthy, and compliant with the laws designed to protect lives.

Declaring the training in Umuahia, the State Commissioner for Transport, Dr. Chimezie Isaac Ukaegbu, explained that the training was organised to equip them with the skills, the knowledge, and the mindset required to fulfill their role with excellence

Dr. Ukaegbu while reminding them of the importance of their role, pointing out that by paying attention to the lessons, and applying the knowledge acquired from the training, they ‘can quite literally save lives.’

“In a country where millions rely on road transport daily, the responsibility you are about to take on is not a small one,” Dr Ukaegbu said.

“You are not just inspecting vehicles – you are safeguarding families, protecting commuters, and upholding the standards that keep chaos off our roads.”

The Commissioner further tasked them on the demands of the mission, adding that they would require not only technical knowledge, but also integrity, diligence, and unwavering commitment.’

“You will become the first line of defense against unsafe vehicles. You will be enforcing compliance, but also educating, guiding, and setting an example for all road users.”

He thanked the training team and the departments involved in organizing this programme for their efforts in shaping the officers, and tasked the participants to take pride in their duties.

“You are the torchbearers of road safety. Wear that badge with honor, and let your actions reflect the values of discipline, fairness, and service,” Ukaegbu maintained.
