Ukaegbu Participates in Community’s ‘Isu Uzo,’ Tasks Youths on Peaceful ‘Iriji’ Festival
Ahead of their iri ji festival coming up on Wednesday, September, 3, 2025, the Abia State Commissioner for Transport Dr Chimezie Isaac Ukaegbu joined other sons of Amuzukwu in the traditional ‘Isu Uzo.’
The ancient traditional practice ensures that community youths clear the bushy paths of their farmland in preparation to a successful yam harvest season.
Speaking at the palace of the traditional ruler of Amuzukwu Autonomous Community, Eze John Onyebuchi Ibezim. Dr Ukaegbu enjoined the youths to take advantage of their occasion to stay united, focused and work towards the development of the community.
He appealed to them to put that measures in place to ensure that the annual new yam festival is celebrated without cases of violence and unnecessary rift.
The Transport Commissioner warned that cases of violence would only seek to undermine the government’s effort towards a peaceful and conducive Abia State.
