Emede Community Seeks Government’s Intervention As Gully Erosion Threats to Cut-off Community

The people of Emede Autonomous Community in Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State has appealed for the intervention of the State Government over the gully erosion threatening to them cut off.

The traditional Ruler Eze Allen Okpokiri, who made the appeal at the gully site, said the community faces being cut off if something urgent is not done to savage the situation.

Okpokiri pointed out that the control of the gully is beyond the financial strength of the community and expressed optimism that Governor Alex Ott will come to the assistance of the community and residents whose lives and property are under serious threat.

According to him there is no other alternative routes to the area, adding that the road which starts from Umuagu Ata junction leads to villages including Umuakanu, Umueze, Udide, Umuodudu, Agbo and Ubani Ibeku.

The Royal Father, who applauded the infrastructural development of the Governor across the state, also urged him to do the same to their gully and road, which is in bad condition.

Other community leaders, who lent their voices, including Chief Innocent Iheukwumere and Chief Lawrence Nwaobiara, noted that the urgent intervention of government will save the community from being cut even as they applauded the giant strides of the present administration in the State.
