ASOPADEC Visits School for the Blind, Umuahia, Donates Food Items, Cash for Students’ Upkeep

The Abia State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, (ASOPADEC) has continued its social corporate responsibilities, with donations of food items, toiletries and cash to students of the School for the Blind, Afaraukwu, Umuahia.

At the event held at the school premises, the General Manager of the ASOPADEC, Ven. (Dr.) Joshua Onyeike described it as part of the Commission’s effort to reach out to the less privileged and complement the efforts of the State Governor Alex Otti in alleviating the sufferings of the people.

Onyeike, represented by the Director of Social Welfare, Mrs. Amarachi Isaac-Nwachukwu said the Commission has maintained a longstanding partnership with the School for the Blind and assured that it will be sustained.

He added that ASOPADEC has continued to execute developmental projects across the state in line with its mandate and urged the students to work hard in their studies to overcome their challenges.

In her remarks, the Principal of the School, Nnenna Onyeoziri, expressed deep gratitude to ASOPADEC for the visit, stressing that the donations will impact greatly on the lives of the students.

The Senior Prefect of the school, Christian Agu, also applauded Governor Alex Otti and the General Manager of ASOPADEC for their unwavering support to the School for the Blind in Afaraukwu Umuahia and offered prayers for the government and the Commission

Highlights of the occasion included prayers and welcome songs rendered by the students in appreciation for the donations.
