Abia APC Reacts to Ogah’s Statement Endorsing Otti, Says His Suspension still Subsists

The All Progressives Congress APC in Abia State, has reacted to the statement credited to a chieftain of the party, Dr Uchechukwu Ogah whereby he endorsed Governor Alex Otti for second term in office.

The former Minister of State for Mines and Steel had on Saturday while speaking at a State function in Isuikwuato, pledged support to the reelection bid of Governor Otti of Labour Party.

However, the APC during an emergency meeting of the State Working Committee with chairmen of the 17 Local Government Areas, held in Umuahia, noted that Ogah’s action amounted to antipathy activity and deserved a disciplinary action.

It added that since he was suspended by the party in 2022, the suspension still subsists, the party would rely on the existing suspension rather than initiating a fresh disciplinary process.

The party emphasised that his statement did not represent the opinion of the party as a suspended member cannot speak on behalf of the party.

“A suspended member remains suspended until the suspension is officially lifted. As far as the party is concerned, Dr. Uche Ogah remains under suspension and therefore does not speak for the APC,” Nwankwo stated.

Meanwhile, the APC in Abia State has endorsed Chief Donatus Nwankpa as their sole candidate for the office of National Welfare Secretary in the March 28 National Convention.

The State Secretary of the party, Chief Chidi Avuaja, who announced this at the meeting disclosed that the party’s Zonal Convention has been slated for March 27, 2026.

He pointed out that the positions of Zonal Youth leader and Ex-officio have been zoned to Abia State chapter.

Earlier in an address of welcome, the State Deputy Chairman, Chinedu Ihesiulor, emphasised that the APC in Abia State remains united and free from internal divisions, urging party leaders across the 17 LGAs to intensify grassroots mobilization ahead of the 2027 general elections.
