Abia State Traditional Rulers Council Continues LGA Tour, Insists on Obtaining Pvc for Voting Otti

The Abia State Traditional Rulers Council continued their statewide sensitisation tour of local government areas with a visit to Umuahia South and Isiala Ngwa North.

The tour is aimed at mobilising eligible voters from the grassroots to register and obtain their permanent voters card (PVCs) to ensure participation in elections in Nigeria.

Speaking at Apumiri Ubakala headquarters of Umuahia South and Okpuala Ngwa in Isiala Ngwa North, Chairman of Abia State Council of Traditional Rulers, Eze Dr Linus Nto Mbah emphasised the need to participate in civic duties.

Eze Nto Mbah urged traditional rulers, village heads, town union executives as well as women and youth leaders to sensitise and mobilise their on the importance of participating in elections.

According to him, it would amount to nothing for anyone to claim to be supporting a candidate when the person does not have a permanent voters card, and informed the leaders that it is their responsibility to ensure that those in the hinterland are captured in the INEC voter’s register.

The monarch who reeled out numerous accomplishments of Governor Alex Otti, submitted that no other Governor in Abia State since 1999 has performed better than he has done.

While noting that Dr Alex Otti deserves another term in office, Eze Nto Mbah stressed the need to support the Governor for a second term to consolidate on the good things he is doing in the State.

“As the 2027 election is approaching, there is a need for everyone to register and obtain his PVCs and get ready to cast his vote. We need to give support to Governor Alex Otti,” Eze Nto Mbah said

“All the Governors in the State since 1999 completed their second term of eight years even those who did not do so much. His Excellency Dr Alex Otti has shown capacity, he has done better than all of them; he needs to be reelected.

“We want you to take the message of the PVC to your people. Let it be like the gospel that we preach, please extend the message to everyone around you, your family members, neighbours and friends alike. Let all of them go and register for their voters card.”

Lending his voice, a former Chairman of the State Traditional Rulers Council Eze Joseph Nwabeke said it is the duty of traditional rulers to support a good and performing governor, hence their visit to mobilise support for Governor Alex Otti.

He encouraged the people to mobilise support for their people to obtain their voters card and arm themselves with the power to decide who their leaders should be.

In their separate remarks, the Mayor of Umuahia South Engr. Chinedu Enwereuzor and his Isiala Ngwa North counterpart Ambassador Innocent Uruakpa declared that they would not only mobilise for the governor’s reelection bid but also ensure that he secures the majority of the people’s vote.

Earlier, Chairman Council of Traditional Rulers in Isiala Ngwa North LGA, Eze Okechukwu Joe Afulobi commended Eze Nto Mbah and his team for the visit describing it as first of its kind.

Eze Afulobi noted that he has always supported Governor Alex Otti considering his clear developmental agenda for Abia State adding that he was not surprised to see the governor’s massive performance in a space of three years.

Responding on behalf of Presidents General in Umuahia South High Chief, Amarachukwu Nwogu, Woman leader
Ngozi Uche and Youth President, Chief Maduakolam Philp Odimba thanked the traditional rulers for their message.

They also commended the governor for his achievements in the first three years of his administration and promised to take the message of registration to their people.

Also in Isiala Ngwa North, Kingsley Egwuatu who spoke on behalf of village heads, PG Alfred Albert, Mrs Ngozi Joseph for women leaders as well as Youth Leader, Amos Onyebuchi noted that the governor has brought leadership to every part of Abia including the grassroots and pledged to support his second term bid.

The tour was at the instance of Abia State Traditional Rulers Council led by Eze Linus Nto Mbah and involved the principal officers of the Council and Chairmen of the Traditional Rulers Council in the 17 LGAs as well as Presidents General and town union executives as well as women and youth leaders and other stakeholders of the affected LGAs.
