Oku Ibom Ibibio Receives Leadership of Abasi People’s Foundation …Exhorts them to Propagate Love, Unity, Development

Oku Ibom Ibibio and the President General of the Akwa Ibom State Supreme Council of Traditional Rulers, His Eminence, Ntenyin (Dr.) Solomon Daniel Etuk, CFR, has warmly received the leadership of Abasi People’s Foundation (APF), a non-religious movement with the aim of uniting the Ibibio, Annang, Efik, Oro, Ekid, Obolo, and Ekoi people, bound together by a common culture under Abasi Ibom – the Supreme God.

The visit took place on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, in his palace in Ikot Ukobo, Nsit Ubium Local Government Area, where the APF team, led by Dr. Victor Udo, was charged by the Premier Monarch with the mandate of propagating values that would further enlighten the community, to achieve its timeless divine purpose.

Ntenyin Etuk, in his address, commended the delegation for their remarkable initiatives designed to promote and preserve the identity of the Abasi people, and observed that this identity encompasses a broader spectrum than the previously mentioned ethnic groups.

He highlighted the Arochukwu people of Abia State, who share a profound cultural and spiritual heritage through their reverence for God as “Abasi”, thereby affirming their integral connection to the extended Abasi family.

He noted that the affinity is particularly pronounced among those with historical and cultural ties to the Ibibio-Efik, confirming the rich tapestry of shared traditions and values that intriintrinsically link these communities together.

“I wish to express my profound gratitude to God and the leadership of this foundation for these initiatives. It is imperative that we recognize and reconnect with our kiths and kin across all ethnicity”.

“Now that your organization has launched this commendable movement, let genuine love be our guiding principle.

“Let us strive to live in harmony and cultivate spirit of forgiveness towards one another, as people created for a divine purpose “.

“On behalf of the Akwa Ibom State Supreme Council of Traditional Rulers , I wish to welcome you all to the palace,” Oku Ibom Ibibio stated.

The Akwa Ibom Premier Royal Father stressed the need for the restoration of the Abasi people’s dignity, predicated on the principles of integrity, generosity, and enduring love among the people, and unyielding commitment to a common cause.

Oku Ibom Ibibio further reiterated his commitment, and that of the traditional institution in the state, to offer support to the foundation, while urging its leaders to set exemplary standards and lead by example.

Speaking earlier, Dr. Victor Udo, the team lead, intimated the monarch on the inspiration behind the Foundation, underscoring how other ethnic nationalities have leveraged their shared identity to drive transformative development. He emphasized that the Abasi people, with a vast presence spanning 31 local government areas in Akwa Ibom State and seven LGAs in Cross River State, and an estimated 20 million population, are uniquely positioned to replicate this success.

He also noted that, with significant demographic clout, abundant natural resources, and the support of traditional institutions, the Abasi people are poised to forge a distinct, prosperous, and globally impactful identity.
