2027: Aba Union Endorse Otti for Second Term

An Apex socio-cultural organisation, comprising the 9 Local Government Areas of the Old Aba Division, the Aba Union, has pledged their support for the second term bid of Governor Alex Otti in 2027.

They made their position known at the Aba residence of an elder statesman and the first Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Abia State, Chief Theo Nkire at a private meeting with the Governor.

In his remarks, the host, Chief Theo Nkire and the President of Aba Union, Eze Love Nwogu said the Aba Union is proud of him as their son and assured him of their unalloyed support for his reelection in 2027.

The group while confessing that they did not support Otti’s election in 2023, pointed out that they have now seen his works and how well he means for the people hence, their resolve as a bloc to stand solidly with him.

They described the governor’s achievements as unparalleled, claiming that his two years in office have surpassed the 24 years before him and thanked him for being magnanimous in victory.

Chief Nkire and Eze Nwogu, who said that Otti has endeared himself to the entire Ukwa la Ngwa nation, through the infrastructural turn around across the State, requested for a convenient date for the 9 LGAS of the old Aba Division under the umbrella of “Aba Union” to host him to a grand civic reception.

In their speeches, the Senator representing Abia South senatorial zone, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, the Speaker Abia House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Emeruwa, while acknowledging the giant strides of Governor Otti in two years as Governor, affirmed him as their consensus candidate in the forthcoming 2027 Governorship elections.

The lawmakers questioned what any aspirant would tell the people after witnessing the unprecedented transformation of the State under two years of Governor Alex Otti.

Responding, Governor Alex Otti thanked the Aba Union for identifying with his administration, noting that his becoming Governor in 2023 was ordained by God and attributed his modest achievements to God’s abundant grace.

Otti used the opportunity to inform that his government is reconstructing the Ohanku road using rigid pavement technology with up to 50 years of durability.

While noting that Obohia road is also undergoing similar solid reconstruction, the Governor further announced that road reconstruction would soon commence at Uratta and Old Express roads.

The State Chief Executive while emphasizing the need for enduring peace, said that his administration would not tolerate any act of political irresponsibility capable of threatening the prevailing peace and security across the State.

He informed the stakeholders that the country home of one the foremost leaders from Ngwaland, Late Chief Jaja Nwachukwu is undergoing serious renovation and retrofitting, including the road leading to his house.

He disclosed that he would organise a posthumous birthday for him on the 1st of January 2026.

The Governor expressed joy with how pleased the stakeholders were with his administration and his modest achievements and described the host, Chief Theo Nkire as a father and friend.
