Nwadike Commissions Market Built by Chief Erengwa for Umuokpo-Amaisii Community in Obingwa

The Chairman of Obingwa Local Government Area, Hon. Maxwell Nwadike, has officially commissioned an ultra-modern market (Ahiafor ) constructed and donated by Chief Chukwumaeze Ngozi Erengwa.
The ceremony, held in Umuokpo Amaisii, witnessed a gathering of distinguished guests, traditional rulers, community leaders, clergymen and well-wishers.
Commissioning the market, Hon. Maxwell Nwadike, applauded Chief Erengwa for his remarkable contribution to the community, noting that the gesture aligns with the vision of the Governor Alex Otti in Abia State.
The Chairman also acknowledged the ongoing efforts of the state government, particularly in improving the Aba-Ikot Ekpene road, which has greatly benefitted the region’s accessibility.
He assured the community that the roads they requested would be graded and confirmed that Umuokpo would be a beneficiary in the next phase of health center construction across the state.
Hon. Nwadike urged other individuals and organizations to complement government efforts in driving infrastructural development in local communities.
Earlier, the donour, Chief Chukwumaeze Erengwa, who shared the inspiration behind the project, noted that it stemmed from his personal experience with the dilapidated market where his late mother used to send him to buy fresh fish.
Determined to restore this vital community asset, he decided to build and donate the ultra-modern market to benefit the people of Umuokpo Amaisii.
He assured the community of his continued support, pledging to build toilet facilities in the market. a bus stop, a Corps members’ lodge at the Umuokpo Primary School, and to establish a trust fund foundation in honor of his late mother, Ezinne, which will provide revolving loans to market traders.
He also announced plans to establish a scholarship fund for indigent students in the community.
On his part, the traditional ruler of Ndiakata Amairinabuo Autonomous Community, Eze Elder C.C. Obia, expressed deep appreciation for Chief Erengwa’s gesture, praising his commitment to uplifting the community.
Eze Obia also appealed to the Chairman, to grade the Umuokpo-OwoAhiafor and Umuokpo-Owoelu roads, to enhance accessibility to the new market for neighboring communities.
He further requested the construction of a health center for the people of Umuokpo Amaisii, with the land already donated for the purpose.
Hon. Peter Azubuike, a state party chieftain, extended his support to the initiatives, offering financial assistance for the trust fund, as well as for the construction of the toilets and bus stop.
Several of his associates also pledged contributions to the upcoming projects.
