Medical Council Inducts 83 Graduates from Gregory Varsity as Doctors

Eighty three new Doctors who graduated from Gregory University Uturu, Abia State have been inducted into the Medical Profession by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, MDCN

They were inducted by the Registrar of Council, Dr. Fatima Kyari who was represented by Dr. Tijjani Mandaka during the Institution’s 3rd induction ceremony.

Dr. Fatima while commending the management and lecturers at Gregory University Uturu for producing high quality graduates, noted that the school has come of age.

She charged the new Doctors to maintain high responsibility in the discharge of their life saving duties.

According to her, that the Federal Ministry of Health and the Medical and Dental Council of Nigerian are working in synergy to ensure that Nigerian obtain the best medical services.

The Registrar encouraged the Doctors to ensure that they maintain the ethics in medical practice by avoiding any unwholesome conducts that may attract them heavy sanctions from the MDCN.

She urged them be respectful to senior Medical Doctors under whose guidance they will work with and to ensure that do not dabble into the field that is not their own.

Dr. Kyari urged the graduates to file all necessary documents for their House Manship, encouraged them to always know when to seek the second opinion of their colleague Doctors in a patient’s case and when to refer a patient.

“You must exhibit humility and kindness to the patients’ welfare . Every patient you encounter deserves respect”, Dr Kyari admonished the Doctors.

Earlier, the Vice Chancellor of Gregory University, Uturu, Prof. Celestina Njoku, charged the new graduates to play key roles in healthcare delivery in the world and remain good ambassadors of the institution.

She noted that the world is facing new healthcare challenges which require the skills and understanding of medical professionals.

Also speaking the Chancellor the University, Mr. Okechukwu Gregory Ibe Jr. said that greatness comes to those who work diligently and possess the string desire to succeed.

The Founder of the University, Prof. Gregory Ibe whose address was read by the Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration, Professor Uwaoma Uche, said that the establishment of University was driven by his vision for massive human empowerment, particularly in medicine.

Prof. Ibe expressed joy that the vision is unfolding with the successful induction of the third batch of medical Doctors who are 83 persons.

Some graduates bagged different awards for excellent performance in various fields of medicine, however, it was Dr. Chidera Ugoh who emerged the best graduating Medical Doctor.
