Look Inwards to Find Solutions to Nigeria’s Current Economic Situation – Lady Chukwudozie Charges ICAN

Members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) has been called upon to look inwards to find solutions to the current economic situation towards revitalizing the country’s Economy.

Chairman Board of Directors, Keystone Bank Ltd, and Chairman, Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, MAN South East Zone, Lady Engr. Ada Chukwudozie In her keynote address at the 19th Eastern Zonal Accountants Conference held in Umuahia the Abia capital.

Lady Chukwudozie advised Nigerians to shift from the survival mode to strategic long term investment.

Speaking on the theme:”Beyond Nigeria’s Economic Crises: Unlocking Opportunities for Growth,” the renowned industrialist and keynote speaker further advised them as professionals to deploy their wealth of experience and expertise in the discharge of their responsibilities.

“To understand our current economic situation, we must delve into our past. Nigeria’s economy has historically been heavily reliant on oil exports, which has made us vulnerable to fluctuations in global oil prices. This lack of diversification, combined with inefficient fiscal policies and inadequate infrastructure, has hindered our economic growth and development,” she noted

“To unlock opportunities for growth in Nigeria, the South Eastern Region can focus on investing in its gas potential, particularly in the Anambra basin, which is rich in gas reserves.

Declaring the Conference, Abia State Governor Alex Otti challenged members of the Institute of to leverage their expertise to develop innovative solutions to address the country’s economic woes.

The Governor represented by Secretary to State Government, SSG, Professor Kenneth Kalu, reminded them of the critical role they need to play in shaping the economic destiny of Nigeria as management and economic professionals.

He called on them to think outside the box by embracing innovation and creativity to drive the growth and development of our country.

In his address, the Diamond President of ICAN, Chief Davidson Alaribe, commended Lady Ada Chukwudozie for her insightful presentation and understanding of the Nigerian Economic realities, especially within the Eastern Region.

Alaribe while thanking Governor Otti for the giant strides he has recorded in all the sectors of the state’s economy, describing the theme of the 19th conference as a wake-up call to action for policymakers, business leaders and individuals to work together to address the economic challenges facing the country.

In his remark, the 19th Eastern Zonal conference chairman, Mr Michael Ibe, appreciated God for granting this year’s event, which according to him, affords accountants the opportunity to gather together and come up with ideas that would help unlock opportunities for growth of the country.

Other professionals extolled the choice of Lady Chukwudozie as the keynote speaker, describing it as putting the round peg into a round hole.
